We our continuing our support for the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) in 2019 and have set a fundraising target of £5000 for the year. Last year we are proud to have raised over £4000 for the EIC. Some of fundraising highlights include our Barnsley branch completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge raising over £1500, our Lincoln branch taking on the Tough Mudder Challenge to raise £679, and our annual staff party in Leeds that contributed a further £1040.
This year we hope to raise the bar with even more fundraising events to raise money for the Electrical Industries Charity and other important charities both locally and nationally. Our Sheffield branch manager, Dean Wilsher, kicked off our fundraising for the year with his participation in the 2019 London Marathon last weekend. Dean was running to raise money for the Electrical Industries Charity and their Caz Dickinson Appeal. So far Dean has raised £1600 and you can make any further contributions via his Virgin Money Giving page.
Barnsley Branch Aims for New Heights In Aid of Charity
Our next fundraising event will be held by our Barnsley branch who have teamed up with Sellars Electrical, JJ Electrical Solutions Ltd and Greenwood & Copley Ltd as they aim for new heights in aid of charity (literally). One-upping their fundraiser last year the branch team will take on the National 3 Peaks challenge on June the 29th to raise money for the Electrical Industries Charity and the Barnsley Hospice. Branch Manager, Ben Jones, says that ‘the Barnsley Hospice is committed to providing care and support for hundreds of local people each year and are dedicated to achieving the best possible quality of life for patients with life limiting illness. The Electrical Industries Charity also does fantastic work in supporting and making a difference to members of our industry and their immediate family who have fallen on difficult times’.
The National 3 Peaks challenge involves climbing back-to-back the 3 highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales: Scarfell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowden, respectively. It is more than double the ascent of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and is a combined walking distance of 23 miles. To support the Barnsley branch and the lads joining them, head over to their Virgin Money Giving page to show your support and donate.
