Three of our apprentices have recently completed their qualifications with LEW and have since accepted full time positions following their training. Ben Fielding and Mitchell Day completed their Trade Counter & Warehouse Apprenticeship at our Doncaster branch and Molly Colton completed her apprenticeship in Business Administration with our Sales Ledger department.
Ben and Mitchell’s apprenticeship was a two-year, job focused programme of training designed specifically for wholesalers by the Electrical Distributors’ Association. It offers apprentices valuable experiences working in the key areas of a wholesaler business, from warehousing to trade counter roles, to learn industry specific skills, like merchandising and customer service, that will prepare them for a career within the wholesaling. The Electrical Distributors’ Association have recently reported on a 32% year on year increase in the availability, uptake and overall interest of apprenticeships in the electrical wholesaling sector.
After completing their apprenticeships, Ben, Mitchell and Molly have since accepted full time positions with LEW. Ben and Mitchell now work as Trade Counter Assistants with our Doncaster branch and Molly at our Head Office in Gainsborough, assisting with all aspects of the management and maintenance of customer accounts as our Sales Ledger Clerk. Commenting on the success of our recent apprentices, Managing Director, Andy Johnson, adds that ‘recruiting talented young people is fundamental to achieving a sustainable business for LEW. Apprenticeships play an important role in meeting our objectives, while allowing young people to gain experience and qualifications in a working environment. LEW have offered three apprentices full time positions now they have completed their courses.”
