How is Peter Hickman doing this year?

It’s been a mixed bag for Hicky so far this season. Whilst he crashed out at Oulton Park, Peter then travelled to the Isle of Man TT in May which started much more positively as he secured a win the opening round.

For Hickman, it was the 14th success of his career and a third victory in the Superbike race. The Lincolnshire racer also occupied the top spot in 2019 and 2022.

The British Superbike rider’s victories in the feature ‘big bike’ races also include wins in the Blue Ribbon Senior races in 2018, 2022 & 2023.

Hicky was delighted with the team’s efforts and some fortunate circumstances went his way with Michael Dunlop dropping out.

“This time round it’s come around in my favour and it’s one of them things- we’ve been gifted it but we’ve also worked hard for it and i’m just thankful to the FHO racing BMW team. ”

How has the rest of his season gone so far?

The most recent race was at Brands Hatch  and the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team is leaving the sixth round with mixed emotions, after a weekend of both improvements and frustrations for Peter Hickman. After some good practise runs, the final race of the day saw Pete finish 13th.

“It’s been a much more positive weekend right from the start; first practice we were pretty good and for the second practice we were even better. To be at least in a bit more of a fight with everyone is more like it, unfortunately we didn’t really make the best of qualifying and the first race didn’t go to plan at all; we really struggled with no grip which hampered us in the race, meaning I was quite far back on the grid for today’s first race.

The team did a great job overnight with some changes and I think the track conditions got better, I was feeling a lot more myself and was in a bit of a fight, inside the top ten at some point in both races, and I’m quite content for now with the progress! I’m happy to be back in the mix and feel I can ride the BMW properly again and I’m feeling good!”
